These nine chief ministers got bungalows in Lutyens Delhi, RTI reveals Every third chief minister in India has a separate house allocated in New Delhi's Lutyens Bungalow Zone (LBZ), an RTI query has revealed. Out of these nine CMs, seven are from the NDA. The two CMs from non-NDA parties who have been allocated bungalows are K Chandrashekar Rao of Telangana and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy from Andhra Pradesh. To find out how many chief ministers have been allotted government accommodation in Delhi, India Today filed a Right to Information (RTI) query with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. We posed several questions like how much rent is being paid and who pays it, when and why the allotment to these houses was made, how many chief ministers who had applied did not get a Lutyen's bungalow? In response, the government said, "Chief Ministers have been allotted General Pool Residential Accommodations in Delhi". The government has, however, not provided the reason behind the allocation of these houses. We did not receive any response to our question on CMs whose application for such allocation had been rejected. On the basis of two responses from two different sections of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Directorate of Estates, the following list has been compiled. In the above list, the former chief ministers of Assam and Uttarakhand are still listed as allottees. In New Delhi's Lutyens Bungalow Zone (LBZ), the bungalows are owned mainly by the government and allotted to Union ministers, Members of Parliament, bureaucrats, judges and officers of the armed forces. Almost all of them have their offices in that area.
