BHOPAL: After NSUI (National Students of India), BJP MLA Narain Tripathi has also urged Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to return the exam fee of students of class 10 and 12 as exams are not being held.

BJP MLA from Maihar, Tripathi has requested the Chief Minister to instruct the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education to refund examination fee of students of class 10 and 12. The exams for both the classes have been cancelled considering the safety of children in view of pandemic.

The state education board has saved all the money earned in the form of exam fee. Board has saved the exam copies, question papers and other expenses meant for holding exams, said MLA Tripathi. The education board charges about Rs 900 as exam fee from students. This year the board had charged an additional fee up to Rs 10,000 as a late fee. More than 19 lakh students of class 10 and 12 had deposited the examination fee this year. The total amount of fee given to the MP Board is about Rs 180 crores.

Corona has laid an adverse impact on all sections of the society and considering this fact the education board should return the exam fee, he added.

However, school education minister, Inder Singh Parmar had said categorically that school will not be refunded as question papers have been printed and all arrangements made. ëWe were ready to conduct exams but it was in the interest of students that exams were cancelled. Question of refund of fee does not arise, Parmar had said on Tuesday.
